Piura, Lambayeque and Bahia de Sechura, Peru

Working with artisanal fishermen to evaluate hawkbill bycatch and understand habitat use.

ProDelphinus focuses its work on hawksbills along the northern coast of Peru. Fishermen play a critical role in the organization’s efforts to evaluate hawksbill bycatch and outline mitigation measures to reduce capture. Satellite technology is also used to understand hawksbill movement and habitat use, and how these factors may overlap with fishing effort.
