It

the team from Estero Padre Ramos is beating the team from Bahia Jiquilisco with a score
of 15-7!!!! The game isn't over yet however! Check the scorecard on the right hands side of the page from

Referree of the Hawksbill Cup July 24, 2012 Bahia Jiquilisco Esteemed fans of the cup, Before
anything we would like to congratulate Team EPR for a great game so far, and of course for their excellent hawksbill conservation
efforts! However, the question remains as to whether it will be enough to win the hawksbill cup trophy??? Although Team EPR would love for us to throw in the towel (surely due to the fear that we will surpass
them with our hatching success), we will never give up! We continue to fight and know that these final months of the Cup will
determine the winner of this amazing competition. Great news about the recover of
the transmitter form Sandy Ajalin! I hope the apparatus works better during the second deployment. We have yet to see hybrid hatchlings this season, but we have in past seasons in various nests. We alos took samples
of the dead hatchlings so it will be interesitng to know if they truly are hawksbill and green turtle hybrids. Good luck to all and hooray for the hawksbills!!! TEAM BJ Julu 22, 2012 Estero Padre
Ramos Ladies and gentlemen, News from the Hawksbill Cup. The team from Nicaragua continues to work incessantly. With the silence
from the Jiquilisco team, there is a mounting amount of tension as to what the counterplay they are planning...or is it that
they have simply thrown in the towel???? I cannot be.... During this halftime we will
share some curious information: 1. Sandy
Ajalin returned to nest and Luis Manzanares was able to recover the transmitter that was not working porperly. 2. In one
of the recently hatched nests there appear to be hybrids between hawksbill and green turtles. We will take samples of the
(dead) hatchlings that do not emerge for genetic analysis. 3. We are close to breaking our all time record
for protected nests, but nesting is beginning to decline...so...what is going to happen??? Dun dun dun TEAM EPR July 15, 2012 Goals through July
The wait is over... here are the most updated results, fresh
out of the oven: The team from Estero Padre Ramos is beating the team from Bahia Jiquilisco with a score of
9-6!!!! Check the scorecard on the right hands side of the page from details on each conservation
goal!

June 09, 2012 Awaiting July results
The month of August has begun and the teams continue their battle,
however, the results for Julio are not yet available. What is going on with the managers and coaches of these two teams?Ref, please restore order on the field! The public has been behind
every score to date, but needs the final numbers from Julio to provide further support! We will know soon enough... Ole, ole ole ole, hawksbill, turtle!!! July 06, 2012 Goals through June (Referee announcement) Esteemed team member from EPR and BJ, as well as
general audience and public, it is time to bite your nails and pull you hair in anticipation. Manglito (the Cup's mascot) yells: TIIIIEEEEEEE!!! Yes, after two months we have a deadlock and a tie score in the Cup! Both teams have worked to their limits, confronting vicious mosquitos, intense
rains and tireless hours of walking night after night....and to make things even more emotional, each team has scored a total
of 5 goals. See the scoreboard to see the statistics on how the two teams are matchign up, leaving the score: FIVE to FIVE Team EPR one-upped team El Salvador by a score of 3 to 2, but it wasn't enough
to lead the entire game. Things are yet to be
decided...we will let the hatchlings do their work during the upcoming rounds (after hatching) to help with the conservation
goals and their respective teams. :) Hawksbill Cup Referee June 28, 2012 June scoring summary

June 21, 2012 UPDATED DATA FROM THE BAHIA JIQUILISCO BIOSPHERE RESERVE Dear
friends of the Hawksbill Cup,
We are ecstatic to hear the news from our friends
on Team EPR of an excellent season thus far...a record number eclipsing that of 2010 would be amazing! HOWEVER... Team BJ has the pleasure of announcing that during the 2012 season to date we have...WAIT
FOR IT.... 68 NESTS AS WELL!!!
We lost 1 nest to poachers and 0.5 to depredation (dog)...so we have 66.5
nests protected! That is to say that during the month of June we protected a total of 43 nests and lost 1. We also want to
mention that we marked a total of 14 turtles during June. How is Team EPR doing for tagged turtles?
Without a doubt we have an
extremely heated and emotional competition between our two stout teams! June 21, 2012 UPDATED
DATA FROM THE ESTERO PADRE RAMOS NATURE RESERVE Good evening to all, We currently have 68 hawksbill nests (65 protected and 3 poached). We've
had good advances in the past couple of days. We were able to protect 2 nests at a site in EPR where a nest was stolen earlier
in the season. One nest was also stolen at a site frequented by many fishermen. There is still much work needed to change
the attitudes of many people. An important data to mention is that in 2010, our best nesting season to date, we had a total of 59
nests at this point in the season, indicating that the current season is producing the best results on record to date. We
are optimistic it will be a better season than that experienced in 2010! We await updates from our colleagues in El Salvador. Here, al the communities are looking
to make goals in the Hawksbill Cup. Come on Team BJ, don't leave us in suspense! Good luck and may the best team win!!! June 18, 2012 TRANSMITTING
FROM THE ESTERO PADRE RAMOS NATURAL RESERVE Ladies and gentlement: We reunite to transmit from EPR where the second match corresponding to June is underway. After a difficult match-up in May during which Team BJ took a slight lead, the official inauguration of the Cup with all
of the communities was realized. We are a team!!! We will keep working to save hawksbills from extinciton!
The
second match has begun, the teams have returned to the field and it is sure to be an amazing match-up. We start the month
with an incredible scoring bonanza of 9 nests in one night!!!! June 01, 2012 INTENSE RAINS Dear friends of the Cup. Last night
we had an incredible storm in the Bahia...not so much the rain, but the wind. It blew with such force that it broke three
posts of the hatchery in La Pirraya. Despite the challenge, Team BJ did not give up...a total of 5 nests were laid and protected
last night and we were able to observe and tag 3 of the 5 turtles. It is a record for us...how about the action in EPR?
June 13, 2012 NICARAGUA DOES NOT GIVE UP Ladies and
gentlemen, the Nicaraguan Team has played hard during the first month and is hungry for glory during the second month of the

team :)!!! June 8, 2012 STILL NO SCORE (Referee
announcement) I still cannot divulge the score because we have yet to receive the updated info from Team BJ. June 1, 2012 BREAKING THE SILENCE jaja! We just
returned from the Bahia and we have 52 nests!...no, just kidding...how amazing would that be! We do however have 26 nests
protected and 8 marked turtles, that's not a joke!!! It appears Nicaragua might have won the number and percentage of turtles
marked and we won the total number of protected nests...but we must await the official referee judgement. We also need to
know the % of nest protected! May 31,
2012
MAINTAIN THE SILENCE (Referee announcement) May scoring
ends at 00:00... from here-on maintain the silence to increase the suspense. I will await your final numbers for May and reveal

until midnight to get totals for May. Ref...I'm a
bit worried about the silence of El Salvador...don't tell me there going to come back with a score of 50! May 31, 2012 UNOFFICIAL REFEREE In EPR we have 21 nests and 15 tagged turtles. What is happening in El Que hay por la parte de
